     For the time being virtually all major news outlets in Australia support RSS news feeds.   That means you can installing a feed read into your browser of choice, add  the sites your interested in and it'll grab the headlines for you.   From as many sites as you like..

this was discussed on a program called "Q & A". they had someone from the government there, as well as several others from different fields. the audience can also ask questions. people were saying that facebook has effected charities, aboriginal communities not able to communicate, womens protection from abuse, etc etc. the person from government reply was basically 'this is now law, and needs to be obeyed'. i don't think the government thought this through. if they did, they had no alternate plan to recommend a different platform. unless they didn't expect facebook to respond this way...
