I've been running the nortans antivirus 2004 trial.  It seems ok to me, but it does place a huge drag on the machine when it's active...

So, is norton's as good as it gets?, or whats another option..

kevin

been re-installing XP tonight and another round of updates..  tempted to try nortons again on a fresh install

Yeah I use Norton with XP  but I'm not sure about it being a huge drag on the machine.  I know with DBPro things used to run faster when Norton was active.  RobK once gave me a good explaination why........Strange but true ( Norton not RobK . ;)  )

kevin

it's prolly not as big drag on never machines.  but the difference with and without it, are well, massive on tihs old clunker.. even when it's no in active protection mode.

kevin

lovely.. installing nortons was annoying, but removing it seems to be proving almost impossible..

Now running AVAST (home edition), so far it seems to be really cool.. and it's FREE folks..

Yeah that looks really cool. Been using f-prot, but the latest version exits with some obscure error messages.

I've been using AVG Anti-Virus
