Word Wise game

Game Plot:
Up to 4 players may create any words they wish by using the mouse to
grab any moving, rotating,  and exploding  letter that moves around the screen.
Letter values varies. Time limit is 60sec per player turn round. 800x600y32 full screen
Word list is provided with the download and added to as you play the game.
Player getting a  big score gets to add name to the hi score list.
This  demo version is limited to 3 rounds per player.
It was compiled to an exe with the v1.71 play basic compiler.

     Only had a quick play. Didn't read the instruction and therefore didn't really know what to do on the first go, but anyway.       It's great that it's built with PB1.71 but it appears you're using FX image rotation, rather than 3D acceleration.   FX sprites are generally slower in PB1.71 then PB1.63.  Since hardware 3D takes precedence.    Although it runs fine on my Duran 800 system as is,  I'd be going with the 3D device on this one.  Plus some type of optional backdrop effort might be nice.

I put an updated version of the game with now has some changing backdrops on to the web site.
Had to keep the backdrops simple or it would hang briefly while changing
which is no good while playing.
Set it to run at 70 fps.  Also updated the word list to 2244 words.
It will run at 216 fps on my computer with the 70 fps turned off.

Now that i'm not using a beta version,
I can now check out some other games that
I have finished and I will release them
after I have had a chance examined them.

Anyone download and try(install) the little Word Wise Word List generator program
that I provided(free program) on that download page ?
I would like to know if it you like using it ?
AND you can use it to create your own word lists for your own word games you may be working on.
Run it, Copy any text you see on any screen and paste it on the bottom of the programs
screen, click on filter text from the dropdown menu, a list appears to the left, click on
anything there you consider a word and it appears on the right(this will be the word list you create)
if it isn't there already. You can remove words from the list your creating also with the mouse.
Keep doing this and in no time you will have a huge word list. You can also add(type it in) your own text.
Save,Load, and so on is also there in this program. It was written in vb6 which means it is limited to
32,000 words you may enter.

  Haven't got around trying the generator, but did have an idea for the game  play aspect of word wise.

  Why not search for a match while the game is in play.    If there's match to the dictionary, then perhaps have some overlay effect showing this, and let the player cash in, or continue on to get a bigger word for higher reward.   While you'd get away with a linear search on the dictionary array (assuming that's how it's stored), but you could use a binary chop search on the array, povided the list is sorted it's very quick.

The word list is saved as a plain text file so that any user may edit it. When loaded, it counts up how many words are in the file
being loaded then sets the array to that size(redim). I will add a random bonus letter (with a random bonus value) to the program
and then re-release it. That will give something for a player to work for. Example: 'o' = 25 points and you create the word
'download'  there is an extra 50 points with the 2 'o's in it.
I also would add more music to my programs, but I have been guessing just how large is too large for any download.
also Hey, Kevin do you have DSL yet?  You mentioned it somewhere about 2 yrs ago. How many users here use DSL?

WORD WISE game is updated to v1.3 to remove the occasional startup problem I encountered.
The other 3 games I have recently announced also were also refusing to launch occasionaly
so I re-did them and they also launch GOOD like it should be.
